Why I Started Mae Media (And Why Social Media Strategy Matters)
If you would’ve told me a few years ago that I’d be running my own social media marketing business, I probably would’ve laughed. Not because I didn’t believe in myself but because, like a lot of people, I thought I needed to follow the “traditional” path: a 9-5, some benefits, maybe a few promotions, and a good LinkedIn bio (Yay, me!).
But life had other plans.
After getting laid off from my corporate job, I found myself helping my husband run social media for his businesses. What started as just “keeping things going for now” quickly turned into something more, something I actually loved. I saw how impactful social media could be when it was done well, and more importantly, when it actually sounded like you. I realized that so many small businesses had the passion, the product, the service, but not the strategy, support, or presence to show up online the way they wanted to.
So I created Mae Media to change that (with a lot of encouragement from family and friends).
Not to be another big agency. Not to make things complicated. But to help real business owners feel seen, supported, and proud of the way they show up online.
Because here’s the truth: social media isn’t just a highlight reel or a random stream of posts. It’s how people find you, learn about you, and decide if they trust you. It’s your digital storefront and when it’s backed by strategy, it actually works for your business (even while you sleep).
That’s why strategy matters.
That’s why storytelling matters.
That’s why showing up with intention, instead of just checking a box, makes such a big difference.
Mae Media exists for the small business owner who’s juggling all the things but still wants to grow. For the person who wants their brand to feel authentic online, but just doesn’t have the time (or brain space) to do it alone.
If that’s you, you’re not behind, you’re not failing, and you’re definitely not alone.
This business was built for people just like you.
Let’s show the world what you’re all about!
